The Foundation

An independent non-profit on a 20-year mission for fair garment work.

Fair Price was created and hosted by Fair Wear, which developed its ‘costing for human rights’ methodology and launched the app in 2021. The newly established Fair Price Foundation, a Dutch non-profit, now holds an exclusive license from Fair Wear to further develop, maintain and implement Fair Price, in close ongoing collaboration with its founder. We build on 20+ years of Fair Wear's field experience improving wages, safety and working conditions across the global garment industry.

Low prices are a primary cause of labour violations and unsustainably low wages. By strengthening suppliers' bargaining power, and with it their financial sustainability, Fair Price helps build the trust and enabling environment that social dialogue needs to turn fair costing into real, lasting wage increases. Our role is to give factories and brands the same transparent foundation, so a living wage stops being a negotiation and becomes a line item.

Objective of the Foundation

The foundation's objective is to contribute to the improvement of working conditions and environmental impact in global garment & footwear supply chains, by enabling buyers and suppliers to agree on prices that incorporate the investments needed for such improvements.

Fair Price's main activities are the development, promotion and roll-out of tools and trainings supporting factories and brands in realistic and equitable price negotiations. The Foundation's income is envisaged to consist of subsidies and grants, as well as compensation for the use of its tools and trainings.

The Foundation was founded on May 29th, 2026. No income has been received yet, pending ANBI-status. Current activities are all preparatory, mostly focused on the launch of the new Fair Price tool in the beginning of 2027.

We want a world where the garment industry supports workers' right to safe, dignified, properly paid employment: the new normal. Costing for human rights and environmental due diligence is at its core.

Independent

Governed by an independent board and funded as a non-profit. We hold no stake in the negotiation, only in fairness.

Evidence-led

Every figure traces back to real payroll data and the labour-minute costing method, originally developed by Fair Wear, that auditors and partners can scrutinise.

Built for impact

20+ years of field experience improving wages, safety and conditions on factory floors in garment-producing countries.
